Itinerary
Over six days, explore Tsedang’s ancient wonders and Lhasa’s spiritual heart, with breathtaking Himalayan scenery along the way.
Arrive in Lhasa and transfer directly to Tsedang (2.5-hour drive). Rest and acclimatize to the altitude (3,500m). Optional evening walk around Tsedang town.
Visit Yumbulagang Palace, Tibet’s oldest building, and Trandruk Monastery, famed for its pearl Thangka. Explore the Chongye Valley, home to ancient Tibetan king tombs.
Drive to Samye Monastery, Tibet’s first Buddhist temple. Continue to Lhasa via Yamdrok Lake, stopping for photos of its turquoise waters. Arrive in Lhasa by evening.
Morning tour of the Potala Palace, followed by Jokhang Temple and a walk through Barkhor Street with local pilgrims.
Explore Drepung Monastery, once the world’s largest monastic university. Afternoon visit to Sera Monastery for the famous monk debates (3-5pm).
